The Desmarest’s hutia is from the family Capromyidae (genus: Capromys). It is usually born with about 199 grams (0.44 lbs). They can live for up to 11.33 years. When reaching adult age, they grow up to 46 cm (1′ 7″). Usually, Desmarest’s hutias have 2 babies per litter.
