The Formosan rock macaque is from the family Cercopithecidae (genus: Macaca). It is usually born with about 400 grams (0.88 lbs). When reaching adult age, they grow up to 56 cm (1′ 11″). Usually, Formosan rock macaques have 1 babies per litter.
As a reference: An average human weights in at 62 kg (137 lbs) and reaches an average size of 1.65m (5′ 5″). Humans spend 280 days (40 weeks) in the womb of their mother and reach around 75 years of age.
The Formosan rock macaque (Macaca cyclopis), Formosan rock monkey, or Taiwanese macaque, is a macaque endemic to the island of Taiwan, which has also been introduced to Japan. Besides humans, Formosan rock macaques are the only native primates living in Taiwan. The species was first described by Robert Swinhoe in 1862.
