It is hard to guess what a Rüppell’s horseshoe bat weights. But we have the answer:
An adult Rüppell’s horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus fumigatus) on average weights 13 grams (0.03 lbs).
The Rüppell’s horseshoe bat is from the family Rhinolophidae (genus: Rhinolophus). When reaching adult age, they grow up to 1.6 cm (0′ 1″). Normally, Rüppell’s horseshoe bats can have babies 1 times a year.
As a reference: An average human weights in at 62 kg (137 lbs) and reaches an average size of 1.65m (5′ 5″). Humans spend 280 days (40 weeks) in the womb of their mother and reach around 75 years of age.
Rüppell’s horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus fumigatus) is a species of bat in the family Rhinolophidae found in Africa. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, dry savanna, moist savanna, caves and other subterranean habitats. This species is quite common in parts of its range, and no specific threats have been recognised, so the International Union for Conservation of Nature has rated its conservation status as being of “least concern”.
