It is hard to guess what a Smooth-coated otter weights. But we have the answer:
An adult Smooth-coated otter (Lutrogale perspicillata) on average weights 8.96 kg (19.74 lbs).
The Smooth-coated otter is from the family Mustelidae (genus: Lutrogale). They can live for up to 15 years. When reaching adult age, they grow up to 78.8 cm (2′ 8″). Usually, Smooth-coated otters have 3 babies per litter.
As a reference: An average human weights in at 62 kg (137 lbs) and reaches an average size of 1.65m (5′ 5″). Humans spend 280 days (40 weeks) in the womb of their mother and reach around 75 years of age.
The smooth-coated otter (Lutrogale perspicillata) is an otter species occurring in most of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, with a disjunct population in Iraq. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1996 and is threatened by habitat loss, pollution of wetlands and poaching for the illegal wildlife trade.
