It is hard to guess what a Culpeo weights. But we have the answer:
An adult Culpeo (Pseudalopex culpaeus) on average weights 8.62 kg (19 lbs).
The Culpeo is from the family Canidae (genus: Pseudalopex). It is usually born with about 168 grams (0.37 lbs). When reaching adult age, they grow up to 72.4 cm (2′ 5″). Usually, Culpeos have 4 babies per litter.
As a reference: An average human weights in at 62 kg (137 lbs) and reaches an average size of 1.65m (5′ 5″). Humans spend 280 days (40 weeks) in the womb of their mother and reach around 75 years of age.
The culpeo (Lycalopex culpaeus), sometimes known as the zorro culpeo, Andean zorro or Andean fox, is a South American fox species. It is the second-largest native canid on the continent, after the maned wolf. In appearance, it bears many similarities to the widely recognized red fox. It has grey and reddish fur, a white chin, reddish legs and a stripe on its back that may be barely visible. The culpeo’s diet consists largely of rodents, rabbits, birds and lizards, and to a lesser extent, plant material and carrion. The culpeo does attack sheep on occasion and is therefore often hunted or poisoned. In some regions, it has become rare, but overall the species is not threatened with extinction. The culpeo was domesticated to form the Fuegian dog, but this animal became extinct some time between 1880 and 1919.
