It is hard to guess what a Pyrenean chamois weights. But we have the answer:
An adult Pyrenean chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica) on average weights 30 kg (66.14 lbs).
The Pyrenean chamois is from the family Bovidae (genus: Rupicapra). When reaching adult age, they grow up to 12.9 cm (0′ 6″).
As a reference: An average human weights in at 62 kg (137 lbs) and reaches an average size of 1.65m (5′ 5″). Humans spend 280 days (40 weeks) in the womb of their mother and reach around 75 years of age.
The Pyrenean chamois (Spanish: rebeco or gamuza, French: izard or isard, Asturian: rebezu or robezu, Catalan: isard, Italian: camoscio dei Pirenei, camoscio appenninico, Basque: Pirinioetako sarrioa, Aragonese: sarrio or chizardo), Rupicapra pyrenaica, is a goat-antelope that lives in the Pyrenees, Cantabrian Mountains and Apennine Mountains. It is one of the two species of the genus Rupicapra, the other being the chamois, Rupicapra rupicapra. It is in the bovid subfamily Caprinae, along with sheep and goats.Up to 80 cm tall, its summer coat is a ruddy brown; in winter it is black/brown with darker patches around the eyes. Both males and females have backward-hooked horns up to 20 cm in length. They browse on grass, lichens and buds of trees. Sure-footed and agile, they are found anywhere up to 3000 m.Like other species of chamois, it was hunted almost to extinction, especially in the 1940s, for the production of chamois leather. The population has since recovered and in 2002 was estimated to be about 25,000. (PĂ©rez et al., 2002)
