It is hard to guess what a Thomson’s gazelle weights. But we have the answer:
An adult Thomson’s gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii) on average weights 22.91 kg (50.5 lbs).
The Thomson’s gazelle is from the family Bovidae (genus: Eudorcas). It is usually born with about 2.5 kg (5.51 lbs). They can live for up to 15.17 years. When reaching adult age, they grow up to 88.5 cm (2′ 11″). Usually, Thomson’s gazelles have 1 babies per litter.
As a reference: An average human weights in at 62 kg (137 lbs) and reaches an average size of 1.65m (5′ 5″). Humans spend 280 days (40 weeks) in the womb of their mother and reach around 75 years of age.
Thomson’s gazelle (Eudorcas thomsonii) is one of the best-known gazelles. It is named after explorer Joseph Thomson and is sometimes referred to as a “tommie”. It is considered by some to be a subspecies of the red-fronted gazelle and was formerly considered a member of the genus Gazella within the subgenus Eudorcas, before Eudorcas was elevated to genus status. Thomson’s gazelles can be found in numbers exceeding 550,000 in Africa and are recognized as the most common type of gazelle in East Africa. The Thomson’s gazelle can reach speeds of 80–90 km/h (50–55 mph). It is the fifth-fastest land animal, after the cheetah (its main predator), pronghorn, springbok, and wildebeest.
